External Preparation

There are different types of external medicine, ranging from dry powders through semisolids to liquids.
SOLID
Dusting powder made from fine particle-size powder which may be drug alone or together with other excipients.

of course is not this type of powder la... -____-

LIQUIDS
Soaks - have ingredients dissolve in aq solvent and often used as astringents, cooling or to leave a film of solid on the skin. Oily emollient can be added tho to leave an emollient film on the skin surface
Applications - solutions or emulsions that contain parasiticides
Liniments - designed to be rubbed onto skin, usually a rubefacientLotions - cool skin and deposit protective layer of solidPaints & tinctures - concentrated antimicrobial solutionsCollodions - containing polymer and keratolytic agent for treating corns and calluses
SEMI-SOLIDS

Ointments - contain oily vehicles that may contain surfactant, used as emollient or for drug delivery to the surface or for deeper penetration (this is what we gonna make next week! haha)we get to pack them in both tube and jar... jar easier to pack for me.. =p

Creams - usually give cooling and are less greasy than ointments, also used for drug delivery onto or into skin ( what we did this week! but... i think it's very greasy already la! especially when we need to clean our apparatus... headache ah!)

Zinc cream.. that's exactly what we have to produced this week

Pastes - vehicles with high concentration of solid, for localizes drug delivery and can also be used for sun blocks ( this is gonna be assess the week after next... seems hard to do.. o.O )
Gels - usually aq gel used for lubrication or applying drug to the skin

21st Monthsary <3

it's our 21st months together yesterday...
and since i'm craving for satay... we went to Haji Samuri again
my ABC.. very big bowl
our dinner... simple but very satisfying ^^
that's gonna be my breakfast.. hehe

dear bought some dvds
and we spend the rest of the night watching movie ^^

Workshops

yup... the tittle says everything

we have workshops from 9 to 12 today.. then lectures from 12 to 1
then we have our break before our 2nd workshops from 2 to 5
tired tired..
the second workshop was on the communication skills given by a community pharmacist
it was quite fun actually...
he gave us some puzzle to solve and some scenarios for us to act
there's one particular puzzle which i remembered quite well
guess what's TIRU means if a patient comes to a pharmacy asking for that
well......





the answer is DETTOL!
'ha??' that's how the whole class act when we know the answer.. haha
not really the whole class also la.. there's only half of the class attending today
whereas the other half would attend the workshop next thursday
as for the scenarios play...
we get diff type of scenarios that we have to act out and figure out what in real life pharmacist would do... the pharmacist who gave the workshop even brought some medicines as props for our scenario play
that's evonne... holding...

freaking expensive le... almost 200 bucks gone for 4 pills!
tien li... busy figuring what to write in our script... while me... busy taking photo =p
think think think...hmmmp the first group to act...
the patient suffers from haemorrhoid and took some herbs but has no effect
all the scene took place in the pharmacy between the pharmacist and the patient
that's the last group to act quite funny indeed the way they play out their role
the whole class had a good laugh bout it
tomolo class only starts at 10... heheh
means can sleep till late late
that's all for today... gotta go drink more water laugh too much liaw today =p

Hawaiian Day!

it's our Hawaiian day yesterday...

and guess what... it was raining for almost the whole day -__________-"

went to watch Madagascar 2 last saturday...
din realised that time pass so fast till the movie was finished
bought quite a lot of stuff that day
3 sets personal pizza for just RM 6 each

Feeling Relaxed~

FINALLY!!
after almost one week struggling with mr, lab reports and presentation
i'm finally can relax myself...
we're producing suppositories this week... and i can guarantee 110% that it's not a easy task
most of our suppositories melts when it's being accessed
which is a sad thing... but overall we all performed well ^^
we have new caterer as well for our school cafeteria
which means... NO more sux food!!
hahahaaha i was so so so so happy and excited on the first day
all my friends wonder why... till they really saw the new cafeteria.. then they know why =p
this is what a uni cafeteria should be ba...
but pity the aunty which is at the first floor of the sa building lo
no more good business for her liaw...
and next Monday is Hawaii theme!!
we have Earth theme and Strips already for the past few weeks...
we have to wear something to suits the theme...
uni life is not bad after all with Pharmnotts organizing events to reduce the tension in each of us
there would also be a water friss bee game at the pool as well on that day

like i've mentioned... dear's parents are here again
and this time they brought sushi with them...
and we had sushi for both lunch and dinner...
i think i had enough to last me till the time i got back to Miri...hihi
we went to watch Quantum of Solace last Saturday with Mark
it was a good movie indeed.. watched in a good cinema
the screen was huge!! i think it is 2 times bigger than the one we have in Star 1 Cineplex
and we're going to watch Madagascar 2 this coming Saturday
relaxing week ma... =P
